Route notes, tolls and stops

Monsoon (July to September) can bring landslides on the hill section; Sairgah drivers monitor road status and carry buffer time. A sedan (Dzire, Amaze, Etios — comfortable for four adults) is the default choice and the cheapest, starting at ₹4,181. Step up to an SUV like an Innova or Ertiga if you've got six people or a lot of bags, or a Tempo Traveller (12–17 seats) for bigger groups and wedding or corporate travel. What the fare actually includes
The number you see when you book is the number you pay at the end. Should you book one-way or round?
Two ways to book: a one-way drop, where you're not charged for the driver's return if they can pick up another fare back; or a round trip, where the driver waits and brings you home. One-way usually costs less if you're flying or training back. Round trip makes sense if you want the car with you at Khem Karan for local sightseeing or a return within a couple of days.
