The Amarnath Yatra is among the most sacred pilgrimages in Hinduism - a seasonal journey to a naturally formed ice Shivlinga at 3,888 m in the Lidder Valley of Jammu & Kashmir. The yatra runs for roughly 45 days between late June and mid-August (Raksha Bandhan). Pilgrims approach the cave by two routes - the shorter Baltal route (14 km one way) or the traditional Pahalgam to Chandanwari route (36-46 km one way) - with helicopter services operating from both base camps to Panchtarni. Sairgah runs verified-driver cab packages and helicopter-support itineraries from Delhi, Chandigarh, Jammu, Srinagar and all of Punjab (Amritsar, Ludhiana, Jalandhar, Patiala) to both Baltal and Pahalgam.
Two routes, one sacred cave
The Baltal route (Sonmarg side) is the shorter, steeper option - about 14 km one way, often done in a single day. It is the preferred route if you have booked a helicopter seat (Baltal to Panchtarni to Baltal, ~7 min each way, leaving only a ~3 km walk from Panchtarni to the cave). The Pahalgam route (via Chandanwari, Pissu Top, Sheshnag, Mahagunas Pass, Panchtarni) is the traditional, longer path - 36-46 km one way - usually split over 3-4 nights with tented and langar overnight halts. Many families combine the two: trek up one side, helicopter down the other.
Amarnath Yatra cab packages from Punjab
Pilgrims travelling from Punjab have a smooth, well-connected route to the Amarnath base camps. From Amritsar, Ludhiana, Jalandhar, Patiala and Chandigarh, the standard road route runs via Pathankot → Jammu → Srinagar/Sonmarg (Baltal) or via Jammu → Anantnag → Pahalgam. Sairgah offers verified-driver SUVs and Tempo Travellers for the entire Punjab-to-Yatra leg, with packages starting at ₹12,999 round trip. Group and family pilgrimages can book a single 12-17 seater Tempo Traveller for the whole party. See our route pages for Chandigarh to Jammu, Srinagar to Pahalgam and Amritsar to Chandigarh cabs.
What Sairgah handles for you
Every Amarnath package includes KYC-verified driver, GPS-tracked vehicle, 24/7 Yatra-season phone support, backup vehicle coordination at base camps, and a clear fare breakdown with no last-minute surprises. We do not resell helicopter tickets (these are non-transferable and sold only by SASB/IRCTC) - we handle your road transfer to the helipad, your overnight base-camp logistics, and your safe return.
Registration & Compulsory Health Certificate (CHC)
Every yatri must register on the SASB portal and submit a Compulsory Health Certificate from an SASB-empanelled doctor. Registration typically opens 30-45 days before the yatra starts. Sairgah shares the current year's CHC form, empanelled-doctor list, and registration link with every confirmed booking - but registration itself remains the pilgrim's responsibility.
All figures on this page are planning aids only. Yatra dates, helicopter schedules, and road access are controlled by SASB, IRCTC, and J&K authorities. Confirm every detail with Sairgah against your exact travel dates, vehicle class, and pickup pin.
